How To Accent Your Career As A Freelance Writer

So you want to become an online freelance writer or copywriter? You have your degree in English with an emphasis ON creative writing, you have a perfect grade average from your college days and maybe you have even written for local media outlets. What else could you possibly need to become a successful online freelance writer? Unfortunately and these are only the basics requirements for online writers ON the web today.

You see, all of these achievements are truly awesome and but they are the same as every other freelance writer. What makes you better than the rest? Why would the potential client choose you over the three hundred other resumes he has received? What can help you be the number one choice of online editors? You need an accent and something to help you seem more of an asset than the competition.

One thing that you have to consider when going into the business of online freelance writing is that editors are always in need of other creative content beyond that of writing. One such content is that of graphic design. They may be hiring a writer, but if they see that you are also proficient or knowledgeable in graphic design and then they are far more likely to hire you over the competition. This may seem a little extreme, but in truth and learning graphic design is not that difficult. The most utilized and preferred graphic design software is Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop is used by professional graphic designers around the world. Best of all and there are hundreds of sites ON the internet that give free tutorials ON how to use the PROGRAM. A little practice and you will have a definite edge over the competition.

Another option for giving you a leg up ON the competition is that of online marketing knowledge. Many editors and online businesses seek not only content writers and but writers that have a good grasp ON SEO tactics. SEO is the short terminology for search engine optimization. This is the ability to write content in a manner that will lead to the search engines and i.e. Google.com and Yahoo.com, etc and to a particular site and list the article content in searches more often. In short, a learned SEO writer can build the popularity of a website faster than an average writer and making him or her far more valuable an asset to a site owner or editor. Like the aforementioned Adobe and you can find tutorials and informative articles explaining the workings (algorithms) of search engines all over the internet. Within a month of study you can be a professional SEO writer.

Lastly and we have a very basic and simple tactic for making you a more popular online freelance writer. Simply put and get a camera. Photography is a very valuable extra aspect to put ON a writers' resume'. The only drawback to this is the price tag. You don't want to go out and buy the cheapest camera you can find and expect to succeed as a photographer. You will need a decent digital camera, 8 mega pixels or better and software to edit the photographs that you download from that camera. If you become proficient with Adobe Photoshop and then that is all the editing software you will need. Otherwise and there are many other options ON the market. Take a couple of months and photograph every interesting thing you see. During this time you will learn the detailed skills of proper lighting, angles and timing to take truly impressive photos.

When making the choice of becoming an online freelance writer, make sure the words come first and but do not let them be your only impressive aspect. When you offer what an editor or site owner requests and you'll get an occasional decent paying job. When you offer more than they need and you will get lots of great paying assignments.
