I had never purchased a Rough Guide and had never been to Romania, so I had no idea what to expect or even what to look for, and I desperately needed some sort of direction on what to see and do in Bucharest and the surrounding areas. A lot of the focus was on Bucharest. The rest of Romania was covered very broadly.

While on a recent flight I was able to sit back and relax and read a book from my favorite travel writer - Rick Steves. I have been using his great knowledge and experience on 8 European trips in the last 9 years - his hints and hotel recommendations have been wonderful and we read his books many times prior to departure and while on the trips - some vendors even give discounts by just showing the book.

For those who love the beauty of the North American continent, perhaps one of the most gorgeous places is the Pacific Coastline from San Francisco to British Columbia. Below San Francisco, also quite amazing especially is Big Sur. Still, Big Sur is not all there is, and as you travel Northward towards Canada and even looking at the Canadian coastline, it's nothing short of amazing.
