Glory Days And Track And Field Stats Considered
Back in the day we were all more agile, had more endurance, stamina and those of us who ran track remember when. Not long ago and I was reliving these glory days with an online acquaintance. Remembering the good ole' days when I was FULL of piss and vinegar and had the records to prove it. Then the individual I was talking to stated; Your track stats are superb.
My track stats were hard work and nearly killed me! People don't realize how much the human body can endure when forced and I do. It's a bitch'en design [human body], but holy crap it takes a lot of work to compete at that level, you are running 10-15 miles a day and hard miles and really pushing it. You see and I was a miler. The hard work, well, it's pretty insane, so when you see an Olympic athlete runner, know their pain and it's real.
He admitted he was too an athlete back in the day and stated; I always was fast and could jump and but not to that ability. Endurance, Stamina and agility and quickness ---- it's just not there anymore.
Indeed, this is what goes through the mind of a retired athlete, perhaps and this is why they wish to have one last hurrah? In fact, I have purchased a carbon ten-speed, I am going to ride it coast-to-coast and back and just to prove to myself that I am not a wimp in my middle age. Such is the psyche of a once super-star track athlete. Please consider all this.
