Millage tax, or the tax levied on property, is imposed on three types of property namely land, improvements to this land, and personalty. Property tax regulations differ from country to country. In Jamaica, for example, the property tax is paid annually, the sum of which depends on the value of one's assets. In the Netherlands, property tax is imposed on homes but comes with two classifications: there is one kind of property tax for the citizen who owns the house and another kind for the citizen who is simply living in the house. There are many tax credits available to Texans for First Time Homebuyers. By definition, a first time homebuyer under federal standards is anyone who has not purchased a home before, or who has not been an owner of record on a home for the past three years. Under the federal stimulus package, a homebuyer may be eligible for up to a $8000 tax credit if they close and fund on a purchase as a first time homebuyer by November 30, 2009.

Most state and local governments are claiming a budget crisis, but a look at tax collection revenues show that they're certainly not suffering from a lack of financial resources. First of all, every states property assessment process is very similar. They all start off with the commonly accepted appraisal methods. There is the cost, comparable, and income approaches. As fair as residential they are mostly focused on the comparable approach.
