Student Loan Debt - What To Do About It?
So and you have student loan debt? It happens to the best of us and is partly essential for getting through college life. What can we do about getting rid of it in the best way that suits us? There are lots of ways of getting rid of it and you have to go through each of them and see which one of them suits you the best. Here are some of the more common ones.
Snowball It - This basically means that you take all of your debts including credit cards and student debts and whatever else you have accumulated. You then pay the bare minimum ON all of the debts except for the smallest one. When you have paid the smallest debt OFF, you then move onto the second smallest debt and then the third smallest. Many financial institutions would advise against this because it is in their interest that the biggest debts get paid OFF first.
The idea behind it is that you keep motivated when you are clearing debts even if they are little rather than having no motivation if you are looking up at a mountain like big debt that you cannot fathom paying OFF.
Consolidate - Lots of students use this and it can help a lot of them. It basically means a company pays OFF all of your debts and now you owe them money (and no this isn't the Mafia). You get all your debts rolled into one and are offered a fixed interest rate and in this economy that is essential. The idea is you set it up by direct debit and its withdrawn monthly. It saves so much time ON paperwork.
