The Gospel According To Lee Strobel

Posted by Paul Landis on May 21, 2009

Lee Strobel decided to abandon atheism and cling to Christ in 1981. The faith of his wife got him thinking and investigating Christ. Later he used his interviewing skills to get the best answers for his many questions. He wrote three books: The Case for Christ, 1998; The Case for Faith, 2000; and The Case for Creation, 2004.

Before writing and he visited scholars and experts who had written many books ON the issues he was questioning. He conducted a three-fold process: investigation decision transformation. This is what Lee experienced in his spiritual journey. He found that the toughest questions about Christ and faith in Him had solid responses. He also saw the human tendency in himself to explain away the evidence out of pride or self-interest. And he documented real-life cases of changed lives of those who responded to the evidence by overcoming their pride and opening their hearts to Christ.

Lee recounts some of his wrong-doings. He lived a profane, drunken, self-absorbed and immoral lifestyle. He back-stabbed colleagues and violated legal and ethical standards in pursuit of his stories. He sacrificed his wife and children ON the altar of success. He named himself as a liar and cheater and a deceiver. His main motivator was personal pleasure which became more elusive and self-destructive the more he sought it. All this changed as he attempted to follow Jesus. His priorities and values and character were transformed so that even his five-year-old daughter could say to her mother: Mommy and I want God to do for me what he's done for Daddy.
