Dry skin also requires thorough care as well as oily skin. This skin type requires the following procedures: 1) cleansing,2) exfoliation, 3) moisturizing.

The main issue with dry skin is that it causes cracking of the upper layer of skin and as a result, your skin has real bad appearance.

What are the main causes of skin dryness?

These main reasons are the following:
• hormonal changes
• dry climate,
• excessive exfoliation,
• treatment for other skin disorders, etc.

But sometimes you may have dry skin from nature. Whatever be the reason, dry skin care is very essential.

Main steps of dry skin care:

• Cleansing
The first procedure in the proper dry skin care is cleansing the skin before moisturising. Always ensure that you apply soap-free products (particularly on the skin of your face, neck and arms).

• Exfoliation
This procedure can also in dry skin care. As you know, the main purpose of this step is removing the dead skin cells and allowing your skin to breathe well. But be careful not to exfoliate your skin too hard.

• Moisturising
The next step in the dry skin care is moisturizing procedures which are considered to be most effective for dry skin. Espeically, after cleansing, one can get more effective results with moisturizing.

In general, moisturisers are classified under 2 types according to their main purpose:

1. The main function of first category of moisturisers like Vaseline, etc. is preserving the moisture within the skin. These kinds of moisturisers are inexpensive. You can find them even at grocery shops.

2. The second type of moisturisers provide dry skin care by supplying the skin with moisture from the environment.

Such dry skin care is especially very effective in humid conditions. The moisturisers providing such dry skin care are also called humectants.

It is recommended to use a non-greasy type of moisturiser as far as possible for proper dry skin care. It also concerns humectants. The main ingredients of humectants usually include urea, propylene glycol, hyaluronic acid, glycerine, etc. Besides, to get the best results, apply any moisturizer while your skin is still damp.

But do not forget that thorough dry skin care involves just applying moisturizers, but applying them properly.

Besides, the above mentioned main step, proper dry skin care also includes sun protection. So you should use sun protection products / remedies in order to avoid excessive and direct exposure to sun (for this purpose, you can also use an umbrella/hat).

Useful tips for daily dry skin care:

• Here is the first tip: Before going out, apply a good sunscreen lotion. Or you may use a moisturizer with sun protection property.

• Have natural dry skin care products in order provide natural care of your skin. Such remedies should be free of any synthetic chemicals. The main function of these products is to provide lipid enhancements to the skin and as a result, to enable moisture retention within the skin.

• Be careful with the temperature of water while having a shower or washing your face. It is recommended to use only lukewarm water, otherwise too hot or too cold water can lead to more dryness.
