The low cost of living in the Philippines is one of the major lures of the Philippines to people who are fed up with the current economic conditions in the Western world. People who have worked hard all their lives wake up one day at 55 and find out they don't have enough time left to ever put away enough money to live on comfortably in the Western world.

Why build a business with an ongoing income? One reason - to provide residual income that keeps coming in over and over each month, long after you have done the work to create it. It is called "financial freedom" - being able to create a royalty type income which puts money in your mailbox each month whether you get out of bed or not, regardless of where you are located.

Presently I am among the unemployed due to the state of the American economy, a dislocated worker due to a plant closing. This is the second time this has happened in a little over six years time. I had worked at a small, coal-fired, over 50-year-old power plant in the northeastern United States. The company was merged once, bought up twice, and the second time shut down due to the condition of the plant and potential expense to renovate. It has been a challenge, even more so the first time, as since I have managed to cut back on expenses, and simplify my life.

This article is intended to provide hope to anyone who is doubtful about retiring successfully in 10 years or less. It is meant to help those who have lost money in the stock market, have been unemployed or underemployed, have gone through or are going through bankruptcy, have suffered through an injury or illness, have not been successful in saving money for retirement for any other reason.

Have you already retired, or is retirement approaching quickly? How do you feel about that? If you're like many people in our generation, you are probably experiencing a variety of mixed feelings. Maybe you are leaving a job you dislike, and retirement will be a relief. The pressure has gotten to be too much. Or maybe you truly enjoy your job, but have decided that retiring is the right thing to do.

Sometimes crooks think that senior citizens are easy marks for a purse or wallet snatching or to steal their car as they are getting into it in a parking lot, or even their own driveway. Some thieves probably figure that a senior citizen will be less likely to fight back or perhaps will not have the strength or ability to fight them off. Well, NOW there is something available to "even up the score.

There is no denying the fact that when you retire your lifestyle too changes. This does not in anyway mean that you will no longer lead a happy and contended life. Retirement can be beautiful if you plan it well. Unlike in years gone by, planning for life after retirement requires much more thought and more money simply because our expectations are much higher today.
