Counterfeit $20 Bills On The Rise - Expect Them!

Posted by Lance Winslow on Sep 10, 2009

Whenever there is a recession and there is more counterfeit money floating around in the economy. If you think about it, it makes total sense from an economic standpoint and also from a microeconomic observation. People need money to live and pay their bills, so, when the economy has less cash floating around, everyone is under more stress, folks need to work harder to make the money to live and with less money around they are unable to meet their obligations. Some people turn to counterfeiting.

During a recession it is important for the Federal Reserve and those that handle macro economic affairs in our economy to get the inflows of money circulating again. This is easier said than done, and if it is done incorrectly it causes inflation and which is even worse than being in a recession with no money. After all, if you have lots of money, but it is worthless, you haven't solved your problem and rather you've only created a bigger one.

Thus and it makes sense when people have no money they are more likely enticed to create money out of thin air. This goes for both the people running the country and the low-lifes that might stoop to making counterfeit bills. Not long ago, I was at a local Starbucks, and a gal walked in with a roll of cash, she peeled OFF one of the $20 bills and bought the most inexpensive item in the place and or tried too.

Her eyes were sunken, dark and she looked like she hadn't slept. I suspect she was ON drugs of some type, and she was very nervous as she handed a $20 Bill to the clerk. The clerk held that $20 Bill up to the light and noted it wasn't real. He told the girl he was not allowed by law to give the Bill back to the girl and the girl said that's okay and she immediately left.

The clerk at Starbucks then called the police and who came out to see if a crime has been committed. Since the girl didn't get anything for the fake paper money that she tried to pawn OFF at the local Starbucks, there was no actual crime committed and in other words she did not steal an item trying to use paper money that wasn't real.

Nevertheless and even in the bottom of recession as things START to move forward again you can expect more counterfeit $20 bills. So and I hope you are ON the lookout for these things. Please consider all this.
