Why Milton Friedman Was A Libertarian
We all know that government often wastes our money and starts well-intentioned social programs, but as soon as they START giving stuff away and everyone goes and puts their hands out and the programs keep growing and costing more. Eventually they are giving to those who do not deserve it and they continue to tax us to pay for it. We personally and would never give to support folks that do not deserve it but somehow our government does.
Not long ago, an acquaintance who has a bad case of Liberal-Socialist views explained to me the incredible problems that occur within government where people take advantage of the system, still, he believes that we should pay tax dollars to maintain social programs and even though he acknowledges the waste because some good people who really do need help get the assistance they need.
Yes and those who cannot help themselves should be helped but is government really the right vehicle?
After all and the liberal-socialist note how much folks take advantage of our government's dole. So and I do not trust government to administer assistance because they are inefficient and spend the money unwisely, allowing folks to take advantage rather than kicking their butts out the DOOR.
Therefore, we should let non-profit enterprises do that, and not allow government to tax me to give to the undeserving, manipulators, or those who work the system and which is what we are doing now in government. Then everyone who does not mind helping those who really need help can give in that way through a non-profit.
Now some don't mind giving of their tax dollars to those folks who need it or allowing the government to choose who gets assistance and who does not, yet, I very much do mind, and have seen their terrible administering of the public dole and giving of my tax dollars to those who don't deserve it.
So, I am willing to assist those who need assistance, no problem, just not through the bureaucracy which keeps failing us, you see and it's just runaway waste these days in Washington DC. Shouldn't you all have read; Free to Choose by Milton Friedman?
