Another Day's Collections
I watch the bird
It flits from one
Soft budding flower
And hops to another
Its' song and a praise
For another beautiful day
I watch the snake
It slips its sheath
Diamond stripes and fire
Slithers through the brush
Its grace and wisdom
A tribute to another day
I watch the hawk
It dips and swings
It's wingspread and talons
Searches for its food
Its alertness and swiftness
A gift from the day
I watch the worm
It turns the earth
Disperses air through evenly
The Earth as it prepares it
In gratitude for another day
I watch man
He hops and stumps
He hates and swipes
At everything offered
He grabs and swallows
He tears and kills
He pays only tribute
To another opportunity
To defile the day!
TREAD SOFTLY
Don't get Lost
In the weft of threads
Don't swim west
From the HEAT of sweat
Don't make mounds
From life's hounds
Search through the chaff
From the flowing stream
Each clap of thunder
Each sighing hiss
Of the fierce lightning
Evidence of streaming light
Follow the rainbow stream
And friend and you'll be home.
PROMISES
A promise is a promise
To love your tender eyes
Even when pain racks
A promise is a promise
To bring home the glory
From life's painful sweat
A promise is a promise
To walk the plank
Of life's stormy seas
A promise is a promise
To grab a goal of light
And weave sheens of fate
A promise is a promise
To walk in gardens pure
Of roseate hues of love
A promise is a promise
To guide this tiny fingers
To the altar of light
A promise is a promise
May your name stick
Like lilies to you
May the promise of light
Find within your might
Rich soil of roses
May you swing in
The name given
For child,
A promise is a promise indeed.
