What Really Happened In September Of 2005 When Hurricane Katrina Hit?
Ever wonder what really led to the devastation of the lower ninth ward in New Orleans after that levee broke? Well, if so and let me recommend a very good book to you; The Great Deluge, by Douglas Brinkley. You will find much of the reality behind the scenes and much more interesting than the created reality of the mass media during that time and long afterwards.
It was truly amazing how the Media turned it around and made I all an attack piece ON the Bush Administration, after all, how can a Hurricane and one of the largest storms of that 2005 Atlantic Tropical Hurricane Season be the President's Fault? That was rather unbelievable when you think about it. And the playing of the race card was even worse and as you recall Ray Nagin's comments.
Indeed, I remember staying up all night watching the news as the storm hit, everyone was saying that New Orleans dodged a bullet and Ray Nagin and told FEMA to get out, we do not need you and we got it under control. Well, 18-hours later that levee broke and the lower 9th ward flooded. But why, why did the levee break in the first place and the storm was only a Cat III, and the engineering assumed it could handle a massive storm surge.
Well and it was much about; horrible construction issues, kick-backs, bribes and etc. Worse and FEMA's delay was directly related to Ray Nagin calling them OFF. Imagine moving your army into place, but out of harms-way, ready to go in and then being called OFF, everyone was re-diverted to other devastated areas, then all of a sudden Nagin, was screaming and they left us here because we are black! Outrageous.
And to allow 1500 transit School Buses to drown is beyond me, many of those buses were 90-passenger buses, and all together they perhaps and could have taken out 100,000 people. So and there was no excuse. Ray Nagin and that whole city should have been evacuated, they had 3-days warning and Bush got ON National Television to warn everyone. Now, today and our history blames Bush and the citizens of New Orleans re-elect Ray Nagin? Well, then if so and that's the leadership they deserve!
Yes, well, this is an interesting topic indeed, in fact, I've written about 50 articles ON this subject, but I hope folks are thinking here, as people need to know the truth and or we are doomed to repeat. Turns out that Michael Brown, head of FEMA was a loyal, smart guy, who really was, in my opinion what FEMA needed and it was a great appointment. His commercial activities and career made him perfect for organizing in the chaos and fog of disaster. President Bush was forced to scape-goat him and that's just too bad for all of us. Please consider all this.
