When staging your home to sell, the old adage is true: Less is more. Here are a few tips to help stage your home, impress buyers, and hopefully get top dollar.

First things first: Give your house a deep clean! It is terribly important to have all areas of your home shine. Wipe down baseboards, clean the grout in shower/tub areas, dust off ceiling fans and wipe down the walls. Potential buyers form an opinion of your home in the first 15 seconds, so first impressions count!

Next, de-clutter. It's difficult for buyers to visualize where their belongings would be placed if they have to try and look past rooms that are full to the brim. Simplify your things. Pack up stuff you don't use and store them somewhere else. Less is definitely more at this stage of the game. This is especially important in the kitchen. Often times, displayed on the counters are all the little appliances - toaster ovens, coffee pot, mixers and blenders. Put them away so that the kitchen is the focal point, not all the gadgets.
