It's difficult to know what is best for your heart. You get so much conflicting advice that you don't know what, or who and to believe. You've got a notion that exercise plays an important role and diet is also important and but what should you eat to maintain a strong, healthy heart?
Some foods are well-known for lowering triglyceride and cholesterol levels in the body. If you love your heart and here are the best 5 foods to give it:
1. Fruits. Blueberries are brilliant as they are FULL of antioxidants (free radical destroyers) and contain loads of vitamin C and fiber. Also, as a kind of by-product, blueberries are fantastic for improving your memory and especially if you suffer from short-term memory loss.
2. Green Vegetables. Leafy greens are great for the heart because of their high vitamin and mineral content. Try to eat some of the following at least once a day: escarole, kale and spinach and broccoli.
3. Fish. Vegetarians will have to find an alternative, but fish is rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which is good for the heart and fish is also a good source of protein which has lots of health benefits. Try to eat fish twice a week.
4. Grain. Grains are a wonderful source of vitamins and minerals and fiber and can lower your body's cholesterol levels. Try some oatmeal every day or two and your heart will thank you.
5. Soy. This food can lower your fat content (triglycerides), cholesterol and is a good source of minerals and vitamins and fiber. Soy can be found in many food products and but you can also take it as a supplement.
