It is a common form of skin eczema that occurs in parts of the body with high oil (sebum) production.
Body areas that are normally exaggerated include the scalp, ears, face, chest, and folds of skin, such as the underarms or the skin below breasts or suspended abdominal folds.
Dandruff is a kind of skin disorder that affects the scalp. Dandruff is a state in which white, dry flakes of dead skin are hut from the scalp.
 Normally dead skin cell are shed from the scalp, but it results in dandruff only when the scalp starts peeling thick layers of these dead skin particle.
 Seborrhea dermatitis or Seborrhea is a disorder of the sebaceous glands which affects the scalp.
Causes of Dandruff
1.    Unclean habits
2.    Emotional problems
3.    Hard shampoos
4.    Exposure to severe cold
5.    Excessive intake of oily and sweet foods
Symptoms of Dandruff
•    Flaking - It is the most embarrassing and common symptom of dandruff. It's a key signal that the skin cells on your scalp are shedding and being replaced at an accelerated rate.
•    Itching - Another sign of dandruff is excessive itching in your head. Itching is actually a result of these dry flakes.
•    Redness - The third sign occurs in more severe cases of dandruff is seborrhea. In this case, there is a visible ruddiness on the scalp, which may even be accompany with irritation of the scalp.
Dandruff Treatment
Conventional treatment of dandruff in adults includes zinc pyrithione, selenium sulfide, sulfur and salicylic acid, or tar shampoo are used. For severe dandruff, hydrocortisone cream is used. In some patients ketoconazole cream is used.
•    Diet - Fried foods should be avoided. Reduce eating of fats, dairy products, sugars, chocolate, seafood, and peanuts. Increase green leafy vegetables and raw foods. Eat a whole foods diet.
•    Biotin – Biotin is a water-soluble B vitamin that helps to break down fats, carbohydrates, and proteins. A characteristic dosage for dandruff is 3,000 mcg two times per day. Food sources of biotin include brewer's yeast, nutritional yeast, whole grains, nuts, egg yolks, sardines, liver, cauliflower, bananas, and mushrooms.
•    Vitamin B complex, especially vitamin B1 and B2.
•    Vitamin A.
•    Omega fatty acids, especially omega-6.
•    Zinc
Herbal Remedies for Dandruff
1. Apply coconut oil on scalp. It is very common treatment for dandruff.
2. Immerse amla and bhringraj powder in water and make a paste and keep it greater than night. Apply the paste on the scalp next morning.
3. Apply Shikakai powder for any type of hair problem. It is very effective home remedy for dandrufff.
4. Add some lemon juice in Luke warm water and be relevant it daily. It is also a common dandruff remedy
5. Prepare a paste of fresh neem leaves (Azadirachta indica) and be relevant it to the scalp. It is very effectual and proven home remedy for dandrufff.
6. Boil 100 g each of amla (goose berry), reetha and shikakai in two litre of water until the liquid reduce to half. Use this shampoo for one month. It is the best anti dandruff shampoo and is very helpful in scalp care and thicken of hairs.
