The UK banks have given the customers some relief writing off record amount of credit card debts. British financial institutions wrote off £3.5 billion worth of debt including £1.2 billion from overdrafts, personal loans and hire purchase agreements.

The UK banks are unable to give their customers information on their interest rates. The confusion magnifies when there are several persons of the same name having their accounts in the same branch of the bank.
