Small and Medium Sized businesses (SMEs) make up 99% of all UK businesses get very little support in Darling's new budget. Consumers may have more spare change in their pockets with VAT reduction, but this reduction is soon to end (31 Dec 09). SMEs act as a low cost tax collector for the Treasury, so new businesses must think carefully about VAT registration.
