If you answered yes to all of the above, you might be suffering from asthma. According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, four out of five Americans have asthma. In the U.S alone, asthma ranks as one of the top ten causes for hospitalization. Asthma is triggered by many things, most common of which is allergen. There are other triggers, too, such as perfume, emotional stress, pet dander, fatigue, and tobacco smoke. The articles in this section are all about asthma.

I was sick of using my inhaler; I had to find alternative asthma treatments because I couldn't perform at my best when playing the sports I loved. I would be running on the soccer field with friends and then stop and use my inhaler. It was worse when I went on dates.

Asthma is a chronic disorder of the airways, and as old as history itself. The Chinese Yellow Emperor, Huang Di (2697-2598 BC) is said to have referred to it; Egyptians mentioned it in the Ebers papyrus; Hippocrates thought it was caused by something in the environment; and Pliny the Elder had cases induced by pollen! We have inherited the Greek description: asthma meaning 'to pant' or 'to breathe hard.'

Asthma is a condition that affects the respiratory system of a person. When one has an attack, the airways that carry air in and out of the lungs swell. This makes the air movement difficult.

Due to the rising asthma prevalence levels, organizations have come up to try bring down the condition. These organizations include Carolina Asthma, Gina, WHO, and Blood Heart and Lung organizations.
