Do you feel shortness of breathing? Are you often wracked with coughing spells that occur only at night? Do you wheeze? Do you feel tightness in your chest? If you answered yes to all of the above, you might be suffering from asthma. According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, four out of five Americans have asthma. In the U.S alone, asthma ranks as one of the top ten causes for hospitalization. Asthma is triggered by many things, most common of which is allergen. There are other triggers, too, such as perfume, emotional stress, pet dander, fatigue, and tobacco smoke. The articles in this section are all about asthma.

I have suffered from asthma for as long as I can remember. I am allergic to dust, pollen, animal fur-you name it, and I am probably allergic to it. My doctor says that I have very sensitive lungs. I use several different asthma inhaler

Although Asthma is a disease that can be explained and it is usually caught during childhood, there is no medical definite as to what causes a person to be afflicted with it. This aliment, simply put, is the irritation of the airways that can result in wheezing and shortness of breath.

We all want to eat right and exercise like we should so we can stay healthy and active for as long as possible. Some of us though either have asthma ourselves or we have loved ones that may suffer from and with asthma. We know from experience that staying active may be different because pollution and other pollen in the air may trigger an attack. We also know that certain foods may trigger an attack, but certain foods may help to make our symptoms easier and more manageable. It is important to know what foods these are, so the proper nutrition can be provided to help you or your loved ones stay healthy.

Surveys have shown that about ten percent of the population suffers from asthma. Over recent years there has a seventy five percent increase in the number of children in the Untied State of America that suffer some this condition. This condition is very real and over recent years it has become one of the most common conditions.
