Anxiety attacks are commonly called panic attacks. Most patients report that there is no real identifiable trigger which starts the attacks; they come on suddenly and last for a few terrifying minutes which seem like an hour. Patients report that they usually have been under long periods of stress before the panic attack.
Anxiety attacks can last for varied periods of time. Patients report episodes ranging from ten minutes to half an hour. But no matter what the time period, dealing with anxiety attacks can be seriously crippling on the patient involved. The physical symptoms can be as frightening as a heart attack with much of the same symptoms!
